Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: 15 April 2025
Introduction
These Terms & Conditions govern the relationship between Nook & Line ("we", "us", "our") and any individual or organisation ("Client") who engages our interior design services. By submitting an enquiry, entering into a service agreement, or making payment to Nook & Line, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accept these terms in full.
Nook & Line is a registered interior design consultancy operating at 34 Jalan SS 22/25, Damansara Jaya, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.
For questions regarding these terms, please contact us at info@nookandl or by phone at +60 3-7733 8126.
Scope of Services
Nook & Line offers three core service engagements:
- Site Survey & Brief (MYR 490): A structured assessment of the Client's space, including spatial measurements, a written brief, and directional references for layout and material considerations. Delivered within one week of a confirmed appointment.
- Design Drafting & Presentation (MYR 3,500): A comprehensive design package covering spatial layouts, material specifications, furniture plans, lighting strategy, and 3D renders. Includes two revision rounds and a contractor-ready documentation package. Applicable to residential and commercial properties. Timeline of 6–10 weeks from brief confirmation.
- Construction Coordination (MYR 1,900): On-site project management throughout the renovation process, including contractor oversight, procurement tracking, quality inspections, and a final arrangement session. Duration of 8–16 weeks depending on project scope.
The specific scope, deliverables, and timeline for each engagement will be confirmed in a separate written agreement or proposal prior to commencement.
Quotations and Proposals
All quotations issued by Nook & Line are valid for 30 days from the date of issue, unless otherwise stated in writing. A quotation does not constitute a binding agreement until a signed service agreement or written confirmation of acceptance has been received by Nook & Line, and any required deposit has been paid.
Quoted prices are based on information provided by the Client at the time of enquiry. Changes to project scope, site conditions, or material specifications following acceptance may result in a revised quotation.
Payment Terms
Payment schedules are as follows unless varied by written agreement:
- Site Survey & Brief: Full payment (MYR 490) is due prior to the scheduled site visit.
- Design Drafting & Presentation: A deposit of 50% (MYR 1,750) is due upon agreement confirmation. The remaining 50% is due upon delivery of the final contractor-ready package.
- Construction Coordination: A deposit of 40% (MYR 760) is due at project commencement. Progress payments are invoiced monthly. The final balance is due upon completion of the final arrangement session.
All amounts are in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and are subject to applicable taxes. Payments are accepted via bank transfer to the details provided on the invoice. We do not accept cash payments exceeding MYR 3,000 in accordance with applicable regulations.
Late payments beyond 14 days of the due date may result in suspension of project work until the outstanding balance is settled.
Client Responsibilities
To allow Nook & Line to deliver services effectively, the Client agrees to:
- Provide accurate information about the property, including existing plans, measurements, and relevant constraints, when requested.
- Grant timely access to the property for site visits, inspections, and coordination activities.
- Provide feedback, approvals, or decisions within agreed response windows. Delays from the Client's side may affect project timelines.
- Ensure that all required third-party consents (e.g., building management approval, Joint Management Body permissions) are obtained prior to commencement of renovation works.
- Nominate a single point of contact for project communication to reduce ambiguity.
Revisions and Changes
The Design Drafting & Presentation service includes two rounds of revisions within the agreed scope. Revisions are defined as adjustments to existing elements based on written Client feedback. Requests that represent a substantial change in design direction, spatial layout, or material category following the second revision round may be subject to additional professional fees, which will be communicated and agreed upon in writing before proceeding.
Scope changes during the Construction Coordination phase that require additional site visits, procurement activities, or extended timelines will be assessed and quoted separately.
Intellectual Property
All design drawings, spatial plans, render files, mood boards, specification documents, and other materials produced by Nook & Line remain the intellectual property of Nook & Line until full payment for the relevant service has been received.
Upon receipt of full payment, the Client is granted a non-transferable licence to use the deliverables for the specific project for which they were prepared. The Client may not resell, sublicense, or present the designs as their own work or as the work of another party.
Nook & Line reserves the right to document completed projects and feature them in portfolios, presentations, and marketing materials, unless the Client requests confidentiality in writing prior to project commencement.
Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellation terms are as follows:
- Cancellation before work has commenced: A full refund of any deposit paid will be issued, minus a MYR 150 administrative processing fee.
- Cancellation after work has commenced: Fees for work completed up to the date of cancellation will be retained. Any remaining balance from the deposit will be refunded at Nook & Line's discretion, based on documented hours and resource allocation.
- Site Survey & Brief: Once a site visit has been conducted, the service is considered delivered and no refund is applicable.
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email to info@nookandl. Verbal cancellations will not be accepted.
Third-Party Contractors and Suppliers
Where Nook & Line's Construction Coordination service involves the engagement or oversight of third-party contractors, suppliers, or trades, such parties are engaged by and remain the contractual responsibility of the Client, unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.
Nook & Line acts in a coordinating and advisory capacity. We do not assume liability for the workmanship, delays, or conduct of third-party contractors, nor for the quality, availability, or pricing of materials sourced independently by the Client or their contractors.
We will communicate concerns or observations regarding third-party performance in writing to the Client, and it is the Client's responsibility to address such matters directly with the relevant parties.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable Malaysian law, Nook & Line's total liability to the Client for any claim arising from or related to our services shall not exceed the total fees paid by the Client for the specific service engagement to which the claim relates.
We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, including loss of income, loss of use, or delays caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to contractor delays, supply chain disruptions, building management restrictions, or force majeure events.
Confidentiality
Nook & Line treats all information shared by Clients — including property details, budgets, personal preferences, and project plans — as confidential. This information is used solely to deliver the services engaged and is not shared with third parties except where necessary to fulfil the service (e.g., sharing specifications with contractors under a construction coordination engagement).
For further details on how personal data is handled, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
Dispute Resolution
In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to first attempt resolution through direct written communication. If a resolution cannot be reached within 30 days of the written notice of dispute, the matter may be referred to mediation through an agreed mediator in Selangor.
These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any legal proceedings arising from these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.
Amendments
Nook & Line reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. Updated terms will be published on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued engagement with our services after any amendment constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Clients with active engagements at the time of amendment will be notified by email.
